African Union Smart Safety Surveillance (AU-3S) Programme |
AU-3S programme is a Data Integration and Signal Detection (DISD) system, enabling in-country and cross-country near real- time access, downstream analysis and signal detection. To date, the programme has worked to improve electronic reporting for adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) by incorporating an AEFI form in the Med Safety App launched in 2021.
MedSafety App is available to over 400 million people for AEFI and Adverse Events of Special Interest (AESI) reporting, which has increased safety reporting for vaccines by 8-fold in the AU-3S pilot countries
SAHPRA launched (22 April 2021) the MedSafety App, a WEB- RADR project, a collaboration between the World Health Organisation (WHO), the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, the Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC), and the UK Medicines and Health products Regulatory Agency (MHRA),
AU-3S programme currently pilots its approach in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa
